Detailed overview
Firebase Studio is a full-stack, browser-based development workspace that uses Gemini AI agents to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, and documentation. Developers can import existing repositories from GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or local machines, or use the App Prototyping agent to generate new apps from natural language, mockups, or screenshots, with environment customization via Nix. It supports building backends, front ends, and mobile apps in one workspace, with access to Open VSX extensions for testing APIs, built-in web previews, and Android emulators. Teams can share workspaces or preview URLs for collaborative development. Finished apps can be published to Firebase App Hosting, Firebase Hosting, Cloud Run, or custom infrastructure. Google is sunsetting Firebase Studio on March 22, 2027, after which no new workspaces can be created, and existing users are directed to migrate to Google AI Studio or Google Antigravity.
